Kate Munning

Congratulations to Andreia Resende, the first winner of our new Rochkind-Wagner Scholarship. Andreia is currently in her final semester at Montclair State University, where she is training to become a biology teacher while teaching as an intern at the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in Paterson.

Andreia was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and grew up in Newark, NJ In 2019, she was accepted into the teacher education program as a National Science Foundation funded Noyce Scholar. Andreia aspires to be a teacher because she believes that every student deserves to be encouraged and become excited and eager to learn. Just as her biology teacher planted a seed of hope and confidence in her, so will she strive to instill those foundations.

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
