2023 Planning Fellow: Laurie Ferreras

Kate Munning

Say hello to our new planning fellow, Laurie Ferreras!

Laurie graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's in ecology, evolution, and natural resources, and is now pursuing a master's degree in landscape architecture, researching Puerto Rico's watershed management in estuaries. Her aim is to implement tropical watershed management strategies for other estuaries on the island that are not protected.

Outside of work, Laurie loves to travel, snorkel, scuba dive, and spend time with friends and family outside. She says, "Life is an adventure, and it's best to spend it with people you love to create memories that will last more than a lifetime."

When asked what she'd like to accomplish at TLCNJ, Laurie says, "To gain more real-life experiences in planning so that I have the knowledge I need to become a successful landscape architect. I want to build connections, expand upon my knowledge, learn how to prepare New Jersey for changes in the climate and use my creativity to make successful plans. I love that time passes by quickly because of the exciting things I am learning and doing."

We are deeply humbled to occupy the land of the native Munsee Lenape.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey acknowledges Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which our headquarters sit is the traditional unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape Nation. We also work to preserve land in the traditional territories of the Lenape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) and the Ramapough Lenape Nation.
